Another prominent film scribe Sadashiva Shenoy (of Lankesh Patrike) turns director from Kannada film ‘Prarthane’. More than two decades of stint in film journalism Shenoy authored many books, his walk the talk was super hit in ETV Kannada and his radio chat with stars as of now is once again acquiring significance.

In ‘Prarthane’ (prayer) Shenoy has clubbed two vital issues of Kannada language and our culture in his debut film. Shenoy announced ‘Mathrubhoomi’ for ‘Mungaru Male’ producer E Krishnappa but it failed to take off. Now for producers Harish and Gandaghar he has taken up a high budget Art film that could be called as a low budget commercial cinema he says. Producer Harish and Gangadhar feel a social reformation is possible from this kind of art films that focus many values of social life. According to story writer JM Prahallad the ‘Time and Team’ for this film is very apt.

For the story of JM Prahallad the eminent journalist Shenoy has done the screenplay and directing the film starring Ananthnag and Sudharani in the lead. The language and culture is inevitable for the majority of people what Shenoy is touching with lot of sensibilities.

Ananthnag the versatile actor plays the lead role in fact told Shenoy this is a role for Ramesh Aravind or Sudeep. As he is 60 years of age it becomes quite difficult in some scenes he explained but the gravity of emotions of Ananthnag made the director Shenoy not to go for any choices. The script is very close to my heart disclosed Ananthnag in his address. The issue of Kannada language focused here in this film is very pertinent. The Kannada language is strong in the rural areas and in urban society it should attain more importance he felt. Our politicians have the answer but not doing anything to give primacy to Kannada language stated Ananthnag who was urban development Minister in the past.

This is the 75th film of noted cameraman Ramachandra Aithal. He started his first off beat film ‘Sankalpa’ that starred Ananthnag and his 75th film also stars Ananthnag in the lead role. Veer Samarth is scoring one prayer song in this film.
